Our School

The Pre School

The WSA Pre-School is called “The Infant School”. The Infant School consists of four age-groups – Crèche, Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten 1 and Kindergarten 2 with different play/learning rooms. Each room has a dedicated teacher who is supported by an assistant, this provides an excellent adult child ratio. The adults have motherly qualities, and pupils are loved and exposed to language, music, numeracy and physical development activities. Learning through the senses is emphasized, and good language role models are provided. Infant School pupils have their own swings, play gym, sand and water trays, etc. This ensures the safety of the smaller children at the school, and helps prevent playground accidents.

Age groups in WSA Infant School are;

  1. Crèche (3 months to 2 years)
  2. Pre – kindergarten group (2 to 3years)
  3. Kindergarten 1 (3 to 4years)
  4. Kindergarten 2 (4 to 5 years)

The Elementary School

The Elementary School caters for children from ages 6 to 11 (Years 1 to 6) and focuses greatly on ensuring that pupilsdevelop their full potential in all areas of learning.

To achieve this, we have designed a curriculum which taps into the depth of the British Curriculum, its methodology and delivery style and the wealth of the Nigerian Curriculum. This Curriculum provides learners with a whole range of experiences, activities and opportunities which will nurture these young minds into well-rounded and capable young boys and girls with strong Christian values.

Each child is provided the opportunity to receive high quality education which not only caters for their diverse intellectual needs, but also guarantees that their emotional, social and spiritual needs are met. In future, we hope to use the International Primary Curriculum to enhance the learning of all children.

WSA Infant School – The Pre School

WSA Infant School curriculum is based on the Frame work for early years foundation stage set in a Nigerian context We work on the seven areas of learning and development by providing learning opportunities for children to develop the 3 prime areas first.

These are:

  • Communication and language;
  • Physical development; and
  • Personal, social and emotional development.

These prime areas are those most essential for your child’s healthy development and future learning. As children grow, the prime areas will help them to develop skills in 4 specific areas which are:

  • Literacy;
  • Mathematics;
  • Understanding the world; and
  • Expressive arts and design.

These 7 areas are used to plan each child’s learning and activities. We will support your child and make sure that the activities are suited to your child’s unique needs. This curriculum is suitable for very young children, and is designed to be really flexible so that staff can follow your child’s unique needs and interests.

Children in the Crèche and Kindergarten learn by playing and exploring, being active, and through creative and critical thinking which takes place both indoors and outside.

Our objective is that at the end of their time at WSA Infant School, children will be ready to progress in a happy, positive and confident way in elementary school.

Since these areas of learning are introduced through play, all of our learning resources, which may appear similar to toys, have an educational purpose, for example, construction toys develop motor skills, creative thinking and spatial concepts, and the Home Corner encourages creativity, language and socialisation. A wide range of activities are provided every day and each child participates at their own level.

Every child is observed daily to record achievements, interests , milestones and progress.

WSA Elementary School

At Wisdom Spring Academy Elementary School, we follow the Nigerian Curriculum program of study, but include elements of the British Curriculum in Maths, Englsih and Science. We also offer a wider international perspective to learning.

WSA Elementary School offers a broad and balanced Christian education, preparing our children to succeed in a diverse and challenging global community.

The WSA Christian principles and values teaches pupils to be good citizens, with a sense of care responsibility to themselves and others. They are also taught tolerance and respect for all people, irrespective of their race, culture or religion, treating them with dignity and equality as we believe this is a very important skill for future leaders.

Through the curriculum, they learn life skills that will enable them to compete successfully in an every changing and challenging community. Problem-solving skills, creative and independent thinking, as well as entrepreneurial skills will provide them with confidence to fulfill their potential and make a meaningful contribution in later life.

Parents are encouraged to share the education journey of their children and this is actively promoted within the curriculum and in the wider school activities.
